Update: Proposed Expansion of the Warm Springs Historic District

The Idaho State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) recently received historic mitigation funding from T-Mobile to support the expansion of the Warm Springs Historic District in Boise. This study aims to identify homes over 50 years old along Warm Springs Avenue, from Mobley to Old Penitentiary Road, for potential inclusion in the district as "contributing" home.

If your property is added please be aware that significant restrictions will apply.

Routine improvements like replacing doors, or siding will require formal approval the City of Boise’s historic planner and typically the Historic Preservation Committee.

This process also typically includes public input where neighbors and the neighborhood association can express their opinions, potentially leading to delays, design changes and added costs for projects. It will also limit the materials you can use for your home improvement and even impact your landscaping.

As your neighborhood association, we wanted to make sure you were aware of the potential changes and get your feedback to share with SHPO and the City of Boise.
